With summer truly upon us now, all we want is to cool down and relax – but with the children on school holidays, days of calm and tranquillity are a world away. To keep kids entertained over the coming months there are plenty of fun activities and events on up and down the Costa del Sol, from concerts and festivals to zoos and water parks. In this blog we take a look at some of the best water options where the kids can tear around and go wild whilst you bask in the water and keep cool – which seems like the best possible compromise for all the family. The newest and hottest water parks to hit the coast are Costa Water Parks. These giant inflatable obstacle courses, moored just offshore of the beach, are enormous colourful structures created with a variety of water slides, trampolines, jumping cushions, climbing walls and many other challenging attractions. The parks, which cover a sea area of over 2,000 square-metres each, are located in some of the most popular spots on the Costa del Sol; the bays of Marbella, Puerto Banús and Fuengirola. You can buy passes by the hour, half a day or whole day if you’re feeling really energetic! Once onboard these wobbly blow-up parks you will be bouncing around as if on a bouncy castle, and it’s great exercise just trying to stay on your feet and keeping your balance before you even start running, jumping and diving. From bouncing up and down on the trampolines to somersaulting into the sea, the Costa Water Parks are a great way for kids to use up their abundant energy, and if you’ve been missing out on your gym sessions of late, why not join them and you’ll be in for a work-out that you won’t forget in a hurry. For a more conventional water park, the Parque Acuatico Mijas is a great day out for all the family. Boasting a labyrinth of slides, a wave pool, a four-lane body ski slide, multiple pools, rides and attractions, there truly is something for everyone. Toddlers can splash about in the shallow children’s pool whilst older children and adolescents will enjoy running from one madcap ride to the next as they shoot headlong through tubes and plunge full-speed down slides like the dreaded Kamikaze. For the less daring there are gentler tube rides as well as pools for leisurely laps and even Jacuzzis for some extra relaxation. In addition to all of the water pools and activities, there are plenty of pleasant grassy areas for lying back to sunbathe or to seek a little downtime in the shade – as well as a mini-golf course, a recreation room and a variety of games and entertainment for younger children. Whatever the age of your children, there’s bound to be a water park or pool that they’ll enjoy, and with so many exciting slides and rides to chose from, the big kids might have just as much fun as the little ones!
